Lady Parker of Denver Visits Ambergeldar
Jan. 10th, 2009 04:55 pmParker has decided that she heartily endorses cross-dimensional travel. Talk about expanding your cultural horizons.
Ambergeldar is delightful. Mingling with the young ladies of the court has firmly embedded that particular adjective in Parker’s vocabulary, but it really is the only way to describe Amy’s world. Parker has been put up in the 34th best guest room—a cozy, comfortable chamber decorated in the Old Spanish style—for the remainder of the Christmas season.
Susan and Merry had thoroughly enjoyed their Christmas presents (bright, neon-colored PlayDoh for the Princess Royal and chunky Legos for the Crown Prince). Parker had been a bit more stuck on gifts for Amy and her husband, but her brainstorm of hitting the campus bookstore had been a good one. Amy had grinned over her red-and-white Hearst College shirt and cap. Perry hadn’t quite known what to make of his Hearst football, but after Parker had explained the rules of the game and demonstrated proper throwing technique….well, she’s wondering if maybe she hasn’t inadvertently launched a new national pastime.
When she hasn’t been hanging out with Amy and the children, Parker has found herself taken under the friendly wing of the young lords and ladies (one Sir Hugh has been very solicitous). The forms of entertainment in Ambergeldar—sleigh rides, court dances, and parlor games—may not be what Parker is used to, but the camaraderie among the young people is exactly the same.
This is way more fun than Denver.
